Things to do

I want to go camping.  I'm not sure where this sudden urge has come from, but I'm having to fight the urge to go out and buy all the stuff I will need.  A sleeping bag for one, and tent for another, lol.

I haven't gone camping, really camping, since I was a kid with my family.  Of course I did the Army version, with just two canvas cloths and stakes and stuff and enough room to curl up and stay only mildly damp in the rain while the person sharing the tent snored loudly.

What I want to do is go out in the middle of nowhere, or as close as I can get without being horribly lost, and just have time to myself. Set up a tent, start a small fire, read a book.  Cook dinner over the fire or have one of those fake MRE camping things.

I know there are a lot of campgrounds about 2 hours away from where I live, so I would probably go there.  Forests, maybe by a small stream.

Of course, I need to buy a tent and sleeping bag.  A lantern.  One of those little firestarters for the campire, some snacks for the trip.  I'll have my Kindle with me.

I want to go just for a night, just a little time to get away.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan.  Guess I'll have to get started on that, huh?

I spent years doing that, and it was wonderful. Is there a large camping store near you? They often rent equipment out, which can be cheaper than buying it.

Don't forget to bring a few lighters/more matches than you think you need. That's the thing I always forget and it bites me in the backside every time.

Enjoy yourself if you do go!

It's been a long time since I've been camping, and I really miss it. I'd love to go again, but when there is a family member with Alzheimer's, you just have to give up some things. But ah, the memories, LOL
