After all that the Hobbits went through, it's totally right that there would be times when the emotions brought on by trauma prevail, that it all just becomes too much. You captured such a time beautifully. I bet being under the bed, in a soft, blanketed cocoon would be like being back in a more familar hobbit hole for Pippin.
