Preparing for the week from hell
Apr. 18th, 2004 09:01 pmWell, this is my last night for a while in a warm bed with a full night's sleep. Sigh. Not looking forward to going to the field, as our 1st sgt is being a butthead and not even letting us bring cards. He says we must be gainfully employed the whole time. And by gainfully employed he means getting dirty, sweaty, tired and cranky.
I shall be in the field all next week, until the 26th, when I come back for my surgury. How bad is it when a person actually looks forward to having surgury? Ick. I'm hoping that there will at least be some of the normal fun while we are out, but I think that may be highly unlikely.
I usually enjoy going to the field, as it means I get to do my job and bond a little with my section mates. You'de be surprised at how funny some things get to be when you haven't slept for three days.
The worst thing is that we only get to shower once every three or four days, and as summer is quickly approaching, I can just imagine what our tent is going to smell like.
The thing I shall miss most, however, is being able to read all your wonderful posts, as I will not be anywhere near a computer until the 26th. I can already feel the withdrawl symptoms.
Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know that I am vanishing for a while, and looking forward to catching up when I get back. Have a great week, and may sunshine and hobbits sorround you.
Hugs!
