Soooo... I'm in a bit of a quandary.   I have put in my resume to three separate positions, but the thing is... I don't really want any of them.  One of them is a leadership position, which I think would be a lot of fun, but is going to be stressful and a lot of work.  The second one is a teaching position.  I would be the assistant to the instructor, and would also be a lot of fun and hard work.  The last is for taking calls in the digital department.  It's a huge pay raise.  In fact, that department is pretty much paid the most.

However... I really like doing the chat support.  I'm not stressed at the end of the day, and I've noticed that my sick time has dropped, except for the unexpected flare up. But if I refuse any of these positions, should I even get offered them, I know I'm going to be more stressed and not going to enjoy work nearly as much.

Sigh.

So.  I guess I'm just wondering what you all think.  All three positions are very good and look excellent on resumes.  All three are a higher pay bracket, which is a definite plus.  But all three are also a lot more stressful.

I don't even know what I'm asking. I already put in my resumes.

Uggghhh.  Being a grown up is hard!!

Being a grown-up is hard *nods*

Would taking calls in the digital department not be a lot like doing chat support? I mean, a lot of the basics should be the same, I imagine? Depends on what you actually enjoy about it, I guess.

Teaching, I can vouch, is a lot of fun, provided you know what you're on about (which I assume you do, or you wouldn't be interested in the job).

Good luck with them anyway - hopefully you'll get offers for all three and then have to decide what you like best. It's nice to have a choice, right?

what I would do? apply for them all and let God choose for me. Out of the three, I bet you only get a call back for one of them, there's probably dozens of other applicants for each of them.

It'll work out :) yayy, pay raise! ^_^

I'm just agreeing with you that being a grown up is seriously sucky.

It would be awesome if I was offered all three, lol. The one thing I love about chat is that I don't actually have to talk to the customer. I enjoy doing customer service when I'm face to face with a person, but over the phone? People become horrible, evil beasts. At least with chat, when they're rude or upset, the worst they can do is capslock me. Over the phone, I have to listen to them yell and swear. Sigh.

I would enjoy the teaching the new hires. I think I would have a lot of fun, and once I get certified I can qualify for the away teams that travel to the various sites to train.

A pay raise would be nice, lol. And you're right, it will all work out. I just have problems letting go. I think leaving things to God has always been a little hard for me. I keep thinking that I have to do everything, even when the universe tells me I don't.

It is! Seriously, I think there should be mandatory nap times at work, and soft things to snuggle on a bad day.

*Sigh*

it's the bane of my existence, having to admit that I'm not really the one in control of what happens to me. And yet, it's oddly comforting at the same time :)

Both my husband and I have prayed in the past for the one best option to be the one and only option offered, because we didn't feel able to chose. On each occasion we've been blest to receive one offer, and it's always worked well.

If you get any one of those jobs, you might like it as well. And they might not nearly be as stressful as you worry they might be. Although, of course when you first start on something new, it is stressful, but you might enjoy yourself even more than you do in your current job, after that initial period. And a pay-rise would be brilliant, of course :-)
