Yesterday was one of those days
Aug. 17th, 2012 08:02 amI am able to announce I am officially a member of the 21st century. I purchased a smart phone last night. As of now, it's proving to be smarter than me, but I'm hoping, with the help of my brother, to get better. We'll see.
I was very hesitant to get a contract. I've been using Virgin Mobile for the last 10 years and pay as you go phones. But no one really had a smart phone that was pay as you go that was reasonable, so I ended up getting a contract through US Cellular. Ugh. However, after the 2 year contract is up, I don't ever have to sign a contract again through them. So that's seemingly the best of a bad deal. I still think it's a rip off and there's no reason to charge such prices in the contract, but apparently society doesn't agree with me. Sigh. Oh, well.
So that wsa a good thing. My mom was with me to help me ask the smart questions, which I cannot say how thankful I am for that. I'm a total newb when it comes to technical stuff, so it's intimidating to me and I never remember what to ask.
After I got the phone, my brother's fiance called and let us know that her dog had to be put to sleep. She's had her since she was a puppy, but over the last month Satin had just deteriorated to the point where she could barely walk. So we all went over to say goodbye and offer moral support.
I think the saddest thing I've seen in a while was watching my brother dig a grave in 100F heat, but refusing to let anyone help him. She passed quietly and without a fight, and now she's burried in the pasture she loved, out by the barn. They still have another dog, Bud, who was really clingy and sad yesterday. They're thinking of making him a house dog so that he can't get into trouble.
So, yeah. Good and bad yesterday. Now I'm at work and really wanting to be back in bed. I'm tired!
