Garh!!  I decided to splurge a little and purchased a Sherlock Holmes game that was a download from Amazon.  Everything went fine until I went to play. When I click on New Game, it freezes!  My whole computer freezes, and I have to bring up the task manager to close it out. What the heck?  My computer has more then enough power and oomph to play this.  Anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong?  I think I'm cursed when it comes to games, because every time I try, something like this happens. Sigh.

First thing I try when software goes wonky on me: run it as an administrator (right click on the icon and pick 'run as administrator' from the menu that comes up). I am hoping you're running windows because I know nothing about OSX at all. However, if it's one of the ones in the same series as "The Mystery of the Mummy" it could just be that they're buggy as hell anyway.

The other thing that might fix it is if you're running Windows Vista or Windows 7 is to grab a Windows XP emulator. XP was a lot more compatible with older games (and I can't think of any Sherlock Holmes ones that might be new enough to have been built with Vista or 7 in mind).

Oh, that's a good idea! Thank you! Yes, I am running Windows 7, one of the best things to come from my old computer melting down, but apparently not too great with games. The game did say it was compatible, though, so I'm not sure. As soon as I'm off work I'll try to run it as administrator.
