In an attempt to not dispair at the general stupidity and callousness of humanity, how about a silly poll?   This one's on...[Poll #1773064]
By the way, if any of you have an idea for polls, let me know.  It's always interesting to see what you all think.

I was all about stuffed animals when I was a kid. They would form their own societies and have adventures... My favorite was a stuff leopard I named Cleo. She was totally the matriarch of the stuffed animal clan. I also had a Pound Puppy named Freckles who was Cleo's submissive right-hand-man. (Ahh, female-led relationships and male submission from such a tender age.)

I never had a maternal bone in my body and never played with dolls, whether baby dolls or Barbies. I once got a Barbie as a Christmas gift from a grandmother who clearly didn't know me very well. When I opened it, I turned to my parents with confusion on my face and said, "What do I do?" (The grandmother wasn't there when I opened it.)

I still love to shrug off the shackles of "responsible adulthood" and I love roleplaying (adult version of "make believe.") Writing is creative play for me, too. Instead of playing with toys and having them go on adventures, I play with characters and write them adventures on the page.

I also play tabletop roleplaying games like D&D, which let me play with "toys" by using minatures in the game. I mean, you describe what actions your hero takes, then move the figure to reflect that action. Isn't that what playing with action figures is all about? ("Ikki is going to hide behind a rock and shoot the zombies from a distance.")

That's awesome! I used to play with Barbie and Ken, and other Barbie dolls, but I would do things like stage a murder or have Barbie beheaded. Yeah, I was vicious.

I had a lot of stuffed animals and I loved my Cabbage Patch dolls.

I loved rollplaying, but fell out after a bad experience with my last lot. Still, I agree. It's like adult play time!

My fave toy as a kid was falling apart when I was still a kid. It's covered with white tape, but I just saw it a few days ago, as a matter of fact. (It was a sort of vinyl donkey originally, but he didn't hold up well. And when they tried to 'bribe' me with a different one to give him up, I turned 'em down FLAT.)

There are toys surrounding my computer right now. I should take a photo and share...

Do women ever stop loving stuffed animals???

Toys are a good thing.

I love stuffed animals! I had a Cabbage Patch doll and a glow in dark bug thing, that I loved to pieces. I was so traumatized when my doll's arm ripped, but my mom was awesome and was able to sew it back on. I still have both of them. I still sleep with a teddy bear. And, like you, I have toys all around my computer desk! Who says you have to grow up?

Although I much preferred books when I was young, (many, many moons ago, LOL), I had one favorite toy. My Dad made me a bunk bed for my dolls and painted it jade green, trimmed in vivid red. Mom took some tapestry fabric and made the matresses for it. I loved that bed and played with it until it literally fell apart. I can see it so clearly and wish I still had it. To me, it was priceless.

That's awesome! I used to have a crib my parents got me for my dolls, and I used to love that thing. Also, a highchair, which I had until the time I went to join the Army. I wish I hadn't given them away, now.

Of my toys, I remember fondly a doll I had. She was a "child" doll of no particular brand, though she was about the same age as nowadays' American Girl dolls. She had short curly hair and a great wardrobe (including a cowgirl outfit). I also had a Dale Evans cowgirl outfit at one point (is that a toy?). I enjoyed my Barbies as well, but mostly played those with my friends. I also loved my dollhouse furniture. I don't know what happened to the house, but I used to set the furniture out on the floor and make up my own floor plans.

But I was really into comic books-- DC in particular-- and collected those from the time I was 8 right up to a couple of years after I got married and DC screwed up their multi-verses. When they killed off the original Supergirl and the Barry Allen Flash's wife, I gave up cold turkey in disgust.

I still have hundreds of my comics, but they are not very valuable, since I always read them to pieces. Plus my mom stuck them in an outside storage shed for a few years when I was in college.

Oh, and the DH and I both love to blow bubbles. Our idea of a romantic evening is to sit on the porch swing and blow bubbles.

I had a Cabbage Patch baby doll I loved. It used to go with me everywhere. I was so traumatized when the arm fell off, but my mom sewed it back on. I still have it.

I used to love to arrange my Barbie furniture in all kinds of different, out of the way places. I still have most of them, though I doubt they're worth anything. My mom gave me her Barbie dolls to play with, with the detachable heads and wigs and such.

I never really collected comic books, but I started reading, really reading, when I was in the 4th grade, and then it was a tie between toys and books.

And I can't fathom how anyone can not like bubbles! They're amazing!
