Out of the fire...
Feb. 4th, 2013 05:55 pmI hadn't realized how long it had been since I last posted. Don't really have all that much to say lately, though, and I'm really trying not to whine so much this year. So, to begin, the good.
I had a great birthday. Spent the day at a class at my church and then the evening with my family. There was much cake and presents and a good time was had.
Read some great fanfic, and saw the Hobbit 5 times. I love visiting Middle Earth again. In some ways, I think I enjoy the Hobbit more than the LoTR. I never was fond of Frodo or thought he was that special, and I've always found myself more fond of Bilbo that nearly any other hobbit. Pippin excepted, of course, lol.
Other than that, well.
Things at work are...hmmmm. It's not Amazon levels of hell, but it is slowly sliding toward that direction.
When I looked at my paystub this month I saw that I was still getting paid the same amount as when I was hired, even though my contract said that after my 3 month probation I would receive a dollar raise. Well, I've been there 5 months now. When I asked the director, who's basically the big boss, he told me, "Oh, about that..."
And apparently they want to extend my probationary period because they don't think I'm coming along that well. When they not two months ago told the DVR representative that I was doing great and meeting if not exceeding expectations. What the fuck?
Lets not mention the fact that they didn't bother to tell me this. There's been no meetings with the bosses, no feedback from them whatsoever except for the gossip I overhear the office manager indulging in with the bitch who sits behind me.
And now they're rearranging desks so that the office manager is going to sit behind me permanently. There are no words for how frustrated I am.
I think I'm going to start sending out resumes again and just see if anything bites. Although, honestly, I'm fed up with the whole dog and pony show. It took me nearly 6 months to find this job. I don't know how long it's going to take to find a new one.
Some days, I hate being a responsible adult. And calling in sick for the next month sounds better and better.

Date: 2013-02-05 03:10 pm (UTC)I knew my bosses were unprofessional, but this just - I can't even tell you how frustrated and annoyed I am.
But at least I have some experience job hunting now and know what to expect, lol.

Date: 2013-02-05 03:14 pm (UTC)It's just very frustrating that there hasn't been any feedback and then suddenly this bs. Sigh.

Date: 2013-02-05 03:18 pm (UTC)At least things aren't so bad that you need to take the first thing that comes along...I hope that doesn't change, or improves a bit even.

Date: 2013-02-05 03:26 pm (UTC)Maybe you should get in touch with the DVR rep they spoke to. If they are not living up to expectations, then they may be in violation of something. Don't businesses get tax breaks or such from their association with DVR? Telling them one thing and you another is just not on!
In the meantime, sending out resumes seems like a reasonable thing to do.

Date: 2013-02-09 06:35 am (UTC)I have informed the DVR rep and they told me to start sending out resumes. Unfortunately, there's not really anything they can do. I live in an "at will" state, which basically boils down to my employers can do whatever they want. Sigh.
