Memorial Weekend

piploverSo happy it's a three day weekend, but don't want to lose sight of why it's a three day weekend. I've been thinking a lot about my friends, those who are still in the service, those who are out, and those who are gone. For me, the best tribute I can give them is to be as happy and healthy as I can.
Friday, a friend and I went to a local winery. I've been there once before and had a good time, so we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the service sucked, and we left after about an hour. The only reason we stayed so long was because of the live band that was playing. They were fun and enjoyable, but not even that could keep us after the wait staff ignored us and the food was... well, her's was frankly quite horrible.
Still, it ended up being a good night, as we went for ice cream and then back to my place to have a beer and chit chat.
Yesterday I did some shopping and basically played on the computer all day. It was wonderful!
Today, I'm celebrating with a Magnum P.I. marathon. Yay! I bought the first season and I'm on the 4th episode now. We lived in Hawaii while they were filming, and I have memories of watching them film and going to the mansion to take pictures. We lived in Hawaii from 1979 to 1985, so I was six when we left. I don't have a whole lot of memories, but some, and Magnum's one of them. That, and I just love the series.
The characters are fun, the plots go from silly to serious, and it's a lot more gripping and dark that a lot of today's shows. It doesn't take itself seriously while still dealing with serious issues. Overall, I'm just enjoying the trip down memory lane and the show from an adult perspective now I'm old enough to appreciate things I didn't get when I first watched it.
So, yeah, that's what I'm doing today. Tomorrow I'm going to see Iron Man 3 with my brother and his girlfriend. This will be my second viewing and their first. Then probably to mom's for a BBQ.
