ff.n serves a useful function. It gives newbies a place where they can test the waters anonymously. And if all the good stuff disappears from it, then they'll never have a chance to read and learn better, now will they?
Sure it's an unfiltered forum, but that's to the good. You face neither criticism of your abilities, or the travails of untender prejudices by the self-proclaimed authority of an "editor/webmaster" of a more selective site. You might have to put up with a few trolls, but it's easier to ignore anonymous malice. And if you get some good reviews, it helps you take the next step when you find a really excellent website, which has a selection policy that you have to work a little harder to live up to.
And besides, even a wretched Marysue with invented spelling can be fun when your tempereature's away up. Yay Nyquil!
