Ok, here's the thing. My friend thinks she might be pregnant, even though I told her she can't be beacause she's not missed her period for like, four months. So, the question I'm putting to you is this: Can a woman be pregnant and still get her period? I've never been, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that, lol.
I would appreciate any answers, as my friend is too cowardly to take a test, even though I offerd to buy it for her. Sigh. Friendship.

I think there are cases where a woman gets pregnant and still gets her period, too. I'm almost positive about that (but I'm no doctor so...just think I read it somewhere), but if it happens very rarely.

Yes, it can happen, but I think you'll lose less blood than you normally would. I don't know any details though...

I'm dead certain it can happen - it happened to a friend of mine. She was quite overweight, didn't think anything of the extra few pounds, still got her period, and therefore didn't find out she was pregnant until her six month...

There can be intermittant light bleeding in the first trimester of a pregnancy and though it is not like a period, it can be mistaken for one. If she's really concerned, it would be a good idea to just get a little test from the drugstore to know for certain, so if she *is* she can start getting the care she needs.

Hi,

There is no way that your friend can be pregnant. Trust me on this, I'm a med student. Periods are pretty much the endometrial lining that is "flushed" away each menstrual cycle because there was no implanted fetus. If there is conception, implantation, and pregnancy, then she wouldn't be having her period.
