Glasses!

I haven't worn glasses since I joined the Army, since there was no way in hell I was going to wear BCGs. After squinting at the boards in class for the past several months, however, I decided to finally get my eyes checked again. The doc told me I had to get bifocals, so I was like, ok, no problem, I just want to see the board in my classes.
Well....I got my glasses today. And the bifocals are totally worthless. The top part is fine, I can see better and I know that once my eyes adjust I won't be squinting at everything. But the bottom part is crap. Everything is blurry if I look down too far, and when I tried reading a book it was just too blurry. This really pisses me off since I paid over 300 for these stupid things. So I'm going back in a few days, and telling them to change the glasses from bifocals to just the one prescription, and hopefully I'll get some money back. In the meantime, though, I'm stuck with defective glasses and I'm going to have to suffer through trying to see the boards in class again and being dizzy because of the blurry bottom. Gah!
So how are you all?

Suggestion: Call your eye doctor and explain what is wrong with your glasses. If the perscription you took to the place to get glasses is correct then maybe they screwed up. This does happen. If they messed up then they will generally fix them at their cost. And since bifocals usually cost more, they would probably be happy to make them with the single lens.

They double checked and said the prescription was what the doc had ordered, so I think it's just crap, lol. But since the top part of the glasses works, I'm just going to have them go single lens. If I really need another prescription for reading I would rather just have a separate pare of glasses anyway. Oh, well.

Sigh. Yeah, that's pretty much my opinion. Stupid Walmart eye doc. You would think I would know by now. Oh, well.

Did you get bifocals or progressives?

I got progressives, so I know that I have to wait for my eyes to adjust. But I wore the glasses to class today, and I could see the bored just fine, but when I went to write notes everything was blurry. I really think the prescription is off, so I'm going take them back in a few days and let them know I just want the one prescription.

They say you have to "learn" how to use bifocals, but my mum's had them for years (several different pairs) and still can't see properly with them. Now she only uses them when she's at work (she has to drive and fill out forms all the time LOL).

I hope it's just a matter of learning for you, or it being the wrong prescription. *hugs*

I, too, had glasses from Wal-Mart. Worthless! I would not recommend them to anyone. I had to wait for six weeks to get them, only to find out the glasses had to be redone! Went to Pearle Vision, and had them a day later - and they worked!
