A wonderful thing happened to me today...
Apr. 16th, 2004 12:14 pmBefore I say this, I want to let everyone know that I have an alternative religion, and therefore if this offends anyone, please stop reading. This is something that happened to me today that is based on my faith, and I don't want to tick anybody off. I do not wish to impinge on anyone's belief, so please, if you do not wish to hear this, feel free to skip.
I have been praying for over a week to my Goddess, Azna, to please let me hear from my fiance, who I have not heard from for over a month. He has no internet or phone, so it is very hard to keep in touch with him.
Azna's symbol is flowers, more specifically a rose, and I asked Her to please let me hear from Eladio within a certain amount of time, believing that one should always be specific with one's prayers, and to please send me a rose so I would know She had heard my prayer. Whether the answer was yes or no was all right, I just wanted to know She had heard.
I was about to give up today, as this was the last day of the time I had asked for. When I went to my mailbox, there was nothing, but something told me to keep trying. I went to the mail room and asked the clerk if there was something for me that they had just not given me.
A package from my Eladio had been sitting there for over a week, waiting to be picked up, though they had not sent me a slip to notify me. When I opened it, the first thing I saw was a card.
It was covered in roses.
I truly beleive, with all my heart, that Azna had my fiance send me this package when he did, because She knew of the hard time I was going through.
I am not writing this try and convert anyone, but simply as a way to share something wonderful. My Mother heard my cries for help, and sent me reassurance in an amazing way. What started as a very hard day has suddenly become bearable, even enjoyable.
And I wanted to spread that happiness a little.

Date: 2004-04-16 12:36 pm (UTC)Azna is my Mother Goddess, and I call to her when I need help, either with little things or big things. Can you believe she actaully helped me pass my rifle range? I got a 27, which is passing, and her holy number! Lol.
I have only recently found her, like within the past three months, but she has always been there whenever I called on her. If you want to ask her for something, just to see if she is listening, tell her specifically what you want, and give her a time frame, like within the next week.
Like I did, wanting to hear from Eladio within the week. Ask her to send you a flower, either a rose or one you like, to let you know that she has heard. I can almost gaurentee that she will. If it makes you uncomfortable, I understand. It still gives me shivers every now and then.

Date: 2004-04-16 12:44 pm (UTC)I've bought a book called "To Ride a Silver Broomstick" by Silver Ravenwolf a little while back, because I wanted to put a witch in one of my original stories (actually a mock film script I was writing for fun) and I didn't want to be stereotypical or anything, I wanted to 'get it right', I'm a mad perfectionist when it comes to things like that. It's a fascinating religion you've got there, and I like the way that it isn't constrained, you can 'do it your own way'.

Date: 2004-04-16 12:47 pm (UTC)I love this religion because it is so open. I was raised Roman Catholic, and finally got tired of everyone telling me my friends were bad because they were gay, or my Mom was horrible because she was divorced. I studied a lot of religions before deciding on this one, and I'm really glad I did.

Date: 2004-04-16 12:53 pm (UTC)I love Ravenwolf's narration, expecially her wit. I have thought about tracking down some of her fictional stories : - D "Silver broomstick" is the only book of hers I have at the moment, but my local bookshop stocks quite a few.
And good for you, actively following your own path instead of letting yourself being 'forced' (is that the right word?) into a way you were not comfortable with : - D
