12 page paper due Friday and I have one page done.  Yes, yes, I know, same song and dance!  The only thing is, every paper I do this to, hold off until the last minute, I get an A on, so who am I to argue results?  The only problem is that I get all stressed out while I'm trying to write the bloody thing and find myself distracted by, oh, I don't know, writing about writing the paper on LJ or reading fanfic when I know perfectly well I need to concentrate on the damn thing.

*Focus, Piplover, foucs!*

Do any of my fellow students find themselves doing this?  And if so, do you have any tricks to get your mind to focus?  I've been particularly scattered this last paper because finals are in less than two weeks and the shit is starting to hit the fan.  Meep!

Ok, back to work.

I'm exactly the same way with papers (and other projects). I finally gave up stressing too much over not getting started sooner and just acknowledged that I'm a last minute person. I got As on nearly everything, and the things I didn't get As on, would not have been improved by starting earlier.

One thing that I always did, though, was make sure that I knew the due dates for all assignments, so that if there was going to be a day or a weekend when more than one thing was due, I prioritized and figured out how long, realistically, each paper/project would take so that I could be sure to get started early enough to finish everything.

Good luck with the paper!
