Oh, bother...

Well, Sweety finally got the internet and a webcam, so I was able to see him for the first time in about three months. Doesn't it figure that right after we finally have a way to talk to each other he gets told he is getting deployed?
Yep, my beloved is being sent to the Middle East, not sure where or for how long. That really sucks, because he will be leaving very soon, probably in a few weeks.
As for me, just found out that my unit will be deploying sometime between November and Feb. Not too worried, though I will hate having to spend another Christmas overseas. I hope that it will only be a six month deployment rather than a year, though I'm not going to hold my breath. Besides, the pay isn't bad over there, and you don't pay taxes. Happy thoughts, damnit, happy thoughts.
Anyway, not much else going on. I am going to sleep now, it has been a very, very long two weeks. Talk to you all tomorrow.

I hope you get a good night's rest and feel better. I lived for three years in the Middle East, in Bahrain, which is a pretty good place to live if you have to be there - hopefully, your sweetie is going to one of the better places. Wonderful repeat wonderful shopping. I was wondering about your comment of 'no taxes' - are you sure about that? I thought our military stationed overseas still had to pay taxes. Civilian gov't officials sure have to (darn it).

I know that our paycheck is tax free, and we don't pay state taxes while we are over there. It exasperated some people when they came back, because they got nothing when they filed their taxes this year. I think it is because it is still considered a war zone, because when I was stationed in Korea we still had to pay taxes from our paycheck.
I'm not sure where Sweety is going, but I am hoping that it is not Iraq. Maybe Kuwait. I just want him to be safe. Thanks for the concern!
