My brother and his fiance are going away for the weekend, so I get to petsit the horses, dogs and cat for them.  She's a vet tech, and he used to be, so they pretty much have everything down to a science where the animals are concerned, which means all I have to do is lay out the food, give the dog its pill, and then watch a few movies on their 65 inch HD TV.

People - the TV is bigger than me!

Not to mention they have a blue ray DVD player.  I am so insanely jealous of them sometimes, lol.  When she asked me how much I wanted for taking care of the critters, I told her not to worry about it.  Her response?  "Then I guess you'll just get a nice surprise, won't you?"  I feel kind of bad, because if I don't take the money, they'll get angry with me.  But I also know them, and they'll pay me way to much. Hell, I think just being able to watch whatever I want on their TV is reward enough.

Anyway, that's what I plan on doing tomorrow.  I told them I'm in a sling so I won't be able to sling the hay or anything, and she assured me that they would have it all ready for me.  I love their horses, even if they do scare me.  Big animals tend to intimidate me, no matter how gentle they are.

Nothing much else to say.  My life is really spectacularly boring.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

They've got to have a huuuge living room to have room for that kind of TV. My TV is the old fashioned kind, 20 inches big. And hardly working. I'd think I'd be happy with just the HD TV myself, too.

They do. It's not gigantic, but it's pretty big. And they're remodeling so that it will be even bigger. My TV is actually a hand me down from my brother, and at 27 inches, it's the biggest one I've ever had, and it has some issues. Still, it looks so tiny and fuzzy in comparison to theirs! So. Jealous.

Aside from getting my car crunched, it was a great weekend. The horses even acted all cute and didn't terrify me!

Pet and house sitting is a lot of responsibility, even if it doesn't involve much in the way of physical work, so kudos to them for planning to pay you! And don't you feel guilty for taking what they offer you--you *deserve* it! (((hugs)))

Meanwhile, you can enjoy the animals and the TV, and get a bit of a break from stress, hopefully!

((((more hugs))))

It was a really good weekend, aside from my car getting crunched, and fiance slipped me some money and gave me glare of doom when I tried to refuse, so I bowed to the inevitable and accepted graciously, lol. Also? Playing X-Box on that TV totally rocked!

Have fun with the TV! That does sound like reward enough, really, but hey, if they want to pay you, let them. They'd feel guilty if they didn't.

*laughs* I sound like my mother. She keeps telling me that the reason offer to pay me when I do them a favor is because it's easier than feeling like they have to help me out if I need it. I told her that was bitter and cynical. Her response "and yet, so true." My mother needs to have more faith in people.

Anyway, have a good time!

Snicker. I think in the case of my brother and his fiance, they've both been rock bottom poor, so now that they can afford to be generous, they are. Fiance paid me and gave me glare of doom when I tried to protest, so all is well in the world. Well...except for the car. But that's another story.

Horses totally intimidate me. I'm 4'10", and they all seem monstrously huge.

Enjoy the TV! After finally getting used to this 9" cutie in my bedroom, I'd be awestruck by something that big. (And take the money, if offered. It will make them feel good, and every little bit helps.)

*hugs*

It was a really good weekend, and the horses were on their best behavior, which my brother said was totally weird, lol. They still scare me, but I spent a lot of time petting them and feeding them, so I'm not totally terrified anymore.

I have a friend who has a petsitting business on the side. She charges $25 for a half-hour visit, and that's usually just checking on and feeding house pets, as there are no horses in town. Petsitting is expensive, and it's a great comfort to have someone in an empty house. So let them buy you a present and accept happily.

The pets were so well behaved I had to wonder if I had the right house, lol. And brother and fiance were very kind and bought me Kung Fu Panda, Secrets of the Furious Five. I had much fun, and besides having my car crunched, it was a great weekend!
