Soooo... note to self. When taking your anti-anxiety meds? Be prepared to spend the next day as a zombie, ok? Because apparently the doctor thinks that the best way to stop a panic attack is to have me unconscious!

Took my pill last night around 11.  Woke up at 8:45 so I could have lunch with Thing 1, who's lunch is at 10.  (He starts at 6.)  I could barely walk!  I probably shouldn't have been driving, but my brain was too zombiefied to realize that it would have been smarter to just call him, let him know I was brain dead, and go back to sleep.  I came back, laid back down, and woke up around 2.

Brraaiiinnnssss...

I am feeling better, though.  I was actually able to do laundry and even made some chocolate chip cookies.  But honestly, it took me most of the day to get out of the brain fog that was wrapped around me.

Not looking forward to work tomorrow, but that's just because it's my Monday.  Sigh.

lol! sounds like me the first few days I was on anti-depressants ^_^ give your body time to get used to them (you could just feel fine now because you're close to taking another dose and it's wearing off). But you won't ALWAYS be tired like this ^_^

Lol! Yeah, true. Luckily, I don't have to take this every day, it's just for when I have a panic/anxiety attack. It has an antihistamine in it (Why? I have no idea!) which tends to make me sleepy, apparently. When I took my anti-depressants, the first few days all I did was sleep. Ugh, brain chemistry! So much easier to just eat them! :)

Glad you're feeling a bit better now. Honest, I understand. One time in college, I had to take medication after a really bad allergic reaction and I actually slept through a final exam (my very nice professor called me and over my tearful apologies, invited me to take it the next day - whew). There's always that fine balance between helpful meds and being so zonked you can't think.

Oh, goodness, the antihistamine strikes again! I'm glad your professor was so awesome. The pill is for panic attacks, and is apparently an antihistamine, which I guess just knocks me out. Brian chemistry is just weird.

Maybe you should check with your doctor if that was the reaction he expected? It sounds like the dose might be a wee high. I haven't taken anti-anxiety meds, but I did take pills for depression for a while, and we had to mess with the dosage a bit to find the right place of 'not so stressed' and 'wrapped in cotton.'

Yeah, I go in next week and I'm definitely going to ask her if that was the intent, because it's just kind of silly to be knocked on my butt for so long. Luckily these are my last effort pills, the ones I take to stop the panic attack, so I don't take them very often. Which, thinking about it, could be part of the problem. :)

I continue to be one of the worst people on the planet because I laughed my ass off at this entry. *looks mildly sheepish but mostly at my lack of shame* Sorry about that.

I agree that being knocked on your ass for the next 24 hours is a bit excessive. And that your dosage is probably too high. And that you may be experiencing the "moderate to severe side effects" that those commercials always blather about. At least it was just sleepiness. It could have been severe constipation, flatulence, diarrhea or anal leakage.

Bleah.

I'd offer to meditate with you because I always find it very soothing, but I suspect sitting crosslegged in the dark typingom mane padme om, is not as helpful as sitting in the dark breathing it. Something gets lost in the pixelation.

I hope all goes better!

Hahahaha! Go ahead and laugh, I do. I found it extremely funny that I could barely walk until around 2, when I had to repeat to myself, "Left foot, right, left, don't stop! Pick up keys, good, good, no, don't sit down!" And so on and so forth. If you can't laugh at yourself, you're doomed to the dark side.

I do need to meditate. I need to just sit down one night and center myself, because I feel scattered. I think that was one of the reasons for the panic attack, I just started thinking about too many things and worked myself up and then couldn't get out of it.

OMG, side effects! I was on one anti-depressant and had almost every side effect listed! I lasted about a week before I said to hell with it and stopped taking them. At least I never had anal leakage. Just the sound of that is horrifying!

A few years ago my father's doctor wanted to put him on a high blood pressure medication and my dad read the side effects list and then just said "No. I won't take this." And his poor doctor is going "But you NEED to take this." And Daddy says "Anything that potentially involves a loss of control of my anal sphincter is unacceptable. I'll just wait for the aneurysm." The doctor found him another medication PDQ.

Meditation is easy once you get the hang of it. It can be tough the first couple of times because we're so programmed to just keep going. But, I've found ten minutes of sitting comfortably concentrating on one word (like peace or gentle) is usually enough to whip my brain into line and let me really focus.

Also, it's a lot of fun to have people wander by my office and go "Ummm, why are you sitting on the floor?"

Also . . .

"One plus two plus two plus one."

"No, no, it was one plus two plus one plus one!"

I adore that movie.

"You see, I'm a plant."

"I thought men like you were usually called a fruit."

*sighs happily at the hilarity that is Tim Curry*
