8 years ago today I think everyone's life changed, whether it be in a big or small way. So many lives lost, so many people grieving to this day. War, hatred, sorrow. These things were brought to our attention on this day. But so was compassion, courage, and love. As with all horrible things, there was some good that came out of this tragedy. I hope we never forget. I hope that, unlike December 7th, forty years from now people will still pause on this day and remember. Still look back and shake their head in horror.
But we have all continued to live our lives. I went to work today, laughed today, enjoyed the sunshine. I honestly feel the best tribute we can give to those who fell is to live our lives to the best of our ability. I won't forget, but I won't be bogged down in the memories.
To my friends still fighting, and my cousin who nearly gave his life in Afghanistan, I salute you and hope you are well today. That day changed us all, changed our nation. Let us do the best we can now so that nothing like this ever happens again.
