Went to turn on my computer this morning and it said that Windows was no more.  I have no clue what the hell happend, but it looks like the computer died.  I can't find my hardware disks to save my life, I feel like utter crap this morning, I was sick all last night, and now I have to go to work.  I don't know what to do anymore.  I think I'm going to take a half day, and to hell with the points.  I just can't take this stress today.

My help_Haiti story is probably lost, and I had three pages of it!  I was almost done, damnit!  I just want to cry.  If I can't find my disks, I may either just get another computer or have to buy the Windows software, whichever is cheaper.  So much for going to visit my dad in August.  I just don't know what I'm going to do.  Gods, can't I get a break?  Just once?  Please?

Oh Pip, I'm so sorry to hear that. Computer problems are the *worst*, especially when there's no warning. I don't save anything to my hard drive anymore because I just don't trust them.

*tight, tight hugs*

Yeah, they are. I thought I had fixed everything and like a doof I didn't save it to my hard drive. I am going to make sure I don't make the same mistake. Sigh.

If you have computer geeky type people around, they probably have windows disks. But I hope you can find yours. If nothing else, most geekplaces can pull the data off your hard drive.

My brother did have the disks I needed and I managed to get the computer back up and running. I think the stuff I lost is pretty much gone, but I am just going to have to start over and make things better now.

(((hugs)))

When my last computer went down completely, the computer guy who checked it to see if it could be revived was able to retrieve my files and put them on disks for me. So even though the computer was kerplooey I was able to get most of what I had on it. Then when I got my new computer, I was able to download it on there.

Ever since, I save most of my stuff to Google docs.

Ohhh, Google docs, don't know what that is, but will have to investigate. I am definitely saving things to my external from now on. What gets me, though, is that there was no warning. It just - vanished!

Oh, well. I just have to do the best I can.

I do almost everything on Google docs now. Not only does it keep my stuff safe, since it's saved on the 'web instead of my hard drive, but I can access my stuff even when I have to use a different computer for some reason!
