Soooo.  When one is hypoglycemic, one should know better than to try and go for a long walk when one has only eaten half a bowl of home made spaghetti sauce and brown rice 4 hours earlier, huh?

Yeah....

In my defense, the rice was really filling, and I didn't even think it wouldn't be enough.

But I went for a walk after work, down to the little parkway a mile away, and was all set to spend an hour or so browsing the antique shops and getting some exercise. And I was fine until about 5 minutes after I got there, when my blood sugar dropped like a rock.

I got a small chai tea from a little cafe and waited until I wasn't so shaky, then decided maybe it was a better idea to head back home and have some real food.

So.  Lesson learned.   Next time I go for a walk like that, I'll make sure I eat something before I go, and that I have something on hand in case my sugar drops again. Because I would have felt like a right idiot if I had passed out in the middle of the sidewalk.

I've had hypoglycemia for many years, and I've learned to always have two things with me: a small candy for immediate sugar, and a small package of peanuts or some other protein for long lasting pick ups. It works well!

I think I've definitely learned my lesson! Until I forget again, lol. But I'm going to try to always have some lifesavers or other hard, sugary candy on hand, just in case. I used to carry macadamia nuts with me, but that works much better with a backpack than a purse. :-P
