I love all crafts related to paper--origami, collage, paper cutting, decoupage, paper mache--it's wonderful! =D I think it's a weird extension of my love of words and books as a writer. If I'm so sick of writing I need to take a break, I still enjoy working with paper medium, especially collage using pages torn from magazines.

I've never sold my crafty art, but I made a big collage for church last year as part of a special Easter art display. I like making collage as art to decorate my own house. =)

I like doing collages and origami, it's very relaxing! I also crochet, which is extremely relaxing, especially in winter when it's freezing out and I'm making a blanket. I don't think I've ever made one for myself, I always end up giving them as gifts, lol.

When I do crafts at all, it tends to be for magical or spiritual work, so I might work with a wooden staff to customize it with symbols that are meaningful for me, or do some leather work for making a pouch, or modify something I bought with beads or feathers or pendants. I made my own ogam set with a dremel and some paua shell ovals, for instance. I will at some point make another set out of moss agate -- I have the agate rectangles, I just have to find the appropriate time and create the ritual space for the work. I have occasionally done strings of prayer beads for my own use, or created sigils on paper with ink or paint. I tend to do whatever I find necessary with the tools and materials that seem appropriate for the tool I need to create.

Very rarely, I'll create something for someone else.

That's awesome! And it makes the items more powerful, for having been made by your hand, right?

I like to crochet, mostly, and find myself putting bits of protective thoughts in the blankets and scarves.

I can at least say it makes it much more meaningful to me, personally. ;)

Other crafts I do: calligraphy/illumination, polymer clay, rock painting, regular and silk ribbon embroidery, beading, and sewing. And there are others I've tried just once or twice, such as woodburning or soap making or bone carving.

I usually have multiple projects going on at one time; I'd never manage on only one at a time.

I often make my crafts as gifts; it's no fun not to share.

I don't usually have time to craft in the mornings, but the rest of it, yeah. And the nifty thing about the DMS articles I'm writing is that sometimes I get to try out a craft idea for an article and then get paid for it. Of course, I can't do any of that at work now because I'm on my feet waiting on customers.

The best thing of all was when I worked at Michael's. Poor me! *grin* I had to spend my time making samples of crafts or demonstrating them at the front of the store or trying out new products the vendors sent us. *sigh* What a fate, being paid to craft! I miss that particular job!!

Wow! You really are crafty! I wish I could do half that stuff.

I like to crochet, mostly, and make blankets and scarves. You're right, it isn't any fun if you can't share, lol!

Well, partly I learn a craft because I want something particular, and I have to make it to get what I want; like I sew because I can't find clothes I like. And also, when I was in the SCA, well, you pretty much have to make everything yourself unless you want to spend a fortune. Most of the calligraphy/illumination I've done's been SCA related.

But when I worked at Michaels I learned a ton of new crafts, because as event coordinator, it was my responsibility to make the sample crafts for the store, to demonstrate new crafts when new products came in, to teach the weekly kid's craft project we had, and so forth. I worked there for six years and learned LOTS! I don't think I tried anything I didn't enjoy!

omg, crafts are the best!! And I love love love giving away the things that I make! It's so much better than keeping it for myself!

It is! I like to make big blankets and scarves and give them to people. I don't think I've kept anything I've made. Hmmm. Maybe that will be my big project this winter!
