I'm very particular about my hot chocolate. There can't be too much chocolate in it, there must be a dollop of honey, and when I'm feeling very sorry for myself I add some lavender. Mmmmmm.
I've tried to do both, and it just ends up tasting watery to me, lol. But then again, I've been known to make mine with half and half, so I love me the extra sweet, strong stuff!
Hee! It can be watery if you put too much water and not enough milk. I tend to do about half to three quarters hot water and the rest milk. :P Sometimes I use coffee cream if I want it a little thicker. ;) Or sometimes I use the flavoured coffee creamer to add a little more oomph. *grins*
I'm not opposed to the idea of spiking my cocoa, but I don't usually have the type of alcohol on hand that would work well. :-p
Also, much of my hot chocolate consumption occurs at work (where I'm usually freezing at my desk), so I don't have milk available. I may have to try that at home sometime... I don't think I've ever done hot cocoa with milk.
Hot chocolate with milk tastes wonderful. It's much creamier and less - watery. More like chocolate milk with extra goodness. Hmmmmm. Also, a dash of peppermint schnapps, and it's perfect, lol.
Mm, lately I love real hot cocoa made with milk much better than instant stuff, but they buy us the instant stuff at work. So I mix it up with half hot water, half coffee. Just about perfect!
I can't really drink the watery kind, it just tastes off, but I can't stand coffee, lol, so when I worked at work, I was pretty much without proper cocoa.
Now I work from home, though, can make it as rich and creamy as a I want. Hmmmmm, chocolate.
