hiccups

Does anyone have a cure for the hiccups?  I've tried holding my breath, drinking upside down, drinking regularly, putting sugar on my tongue and letting it dissolve, and breathing into a paper bag. There's no one here to scare me, so that's out.   But any other ideas?   I don't usually mind the hiccups, but I woke up this morning with a migraine, and although the wonderful, wonderful migraine meds have kicked in, I'm afraid the hiccups aren't helping.

So... Any hints?  I don't care how wacky, I'll try it!

*Hugs*

This may sound odd but can you feel just when you're about to hiccup? If so, when you get that feeling, try breathing out long and slow. I've tried this before and I *think* it works (if I remember right!). Something to do with getting your diaphragm back in the right position or something.

idk, maybe I'm making this up, but it's worth a try, right? :)

I did try that! Usually it works, but this last time it was like the hiccups were laughing at me. They just kept on, lol!

Not a sure thing, but sometimes a few sips of Coke or other type of soda pop helps.

I think that's what finally got rid of them! Thank you! I usually do that with a bit of sugar or honey, which is a remedy my Grandma used to use, but that didn't work this time. How odd!

I think it must be the carbonation-- I usually use Diet Coke, so it can't be the sugar. It usually only takes me two or three slow sips at the worst part of the hiccups.

But there are rare times it does not work, so I don't know.

Hopefully you don't have the hiccups anymore, but just in case, my mother swears by drinking a cup of water with a little salt in it. I've never tried it, but it always works for her.

Hmmm. I've never tried that, and I don't know if I would be able to. Salt water makes me want to be sick, lol. Maybe that's why it works? Thanks for the advise, though, I will keep it in mind the hiccups try to get me!
