So, had an interesting day.
Had a job interview this afternoon that went really well. The lady told me I would know by Tuesday what was going to happen. Fingers crossed!
Then went out for Chinese with a friend, and then to the mall to browse around.
On the way back we were passed by 2 firetrucks and a couple of ambulances. I joked that I hoped they weren't going to my apartment complex. You know where I'm going with this, right?
Yeah, we pulled up and there were about 10 firetrucks, 3 ambulances, and a few fire supervisor trucks at my complex.
Luckily it was the complex across the parking lot from me, and not my building. They've turned off the electricity and are going through the building now, chasing the last of the fire. My cats are still scared and skittish, and hiding in the closet, and my own apartment smells like smoke. My asthma has been playing up, but I'm hoping it will settle down now that things have calmed.
I gave one couple a cat carrier to borrow, because they were just holding theirs. They didn't have time to grab anything when they were evacuated. Luckily, it seems like only one person was hurt, the person whose apartment started the fire. Hopefully they'll be all right.
I think I'm gonna have a drink or two and just try to calm down. I don't think I'll be able to go to bed anytime soon, and I may end up calling in late to work tomorrow, but I'm gonna try.
Sheesh.
How about that for an eventful day?

Date: 2012-06-15 08:11 pm (UTC)I feel so bad for the people involved. One of the gals I work with, who sits just a few seats down, lives in the apartment above and to the right of the one that caught fire. She's all right, but I have to wonder how she's going to come into work when all her stuff is damaged and she's living in a hotel right now. Poor thing. I'm just thankful it wasn't worse.
