My life has been pretty boring the past few weeks. I usually get home from work, watch TV for a bit, play on the computer, and then crash.

Yesterday, though, my sister flew in for a few weeks, so I'm really excited about spending some time with her.  I had to work today, and will have to work all next week, but we have the weekend, and after I get off work.  On Friday we're going to see Bill Cosby, which we're both really excited about.

Tonight we had dinner at my mom's, then pretty much congregated in the living room and talked for a few hours.  When my sister began to droop with jetlag we all decided to call it a night and head out.  Only my car wouldn't start.

My brother tried to jump it and there were honest to God sparks and smoke.  The jumper cables became really hot and whatever juice the batter had seems to have been sucked out.  So now I have to get a new battery and try to figure out how to put in it, since I absolutely need the car for work.

I'm hoping that it just needs a new battery, and that it isn't going to be expensive to replace it.  As it is I'm going to be relying on the emergency credit card.  Sigh.  Oh, well. It's only money, right?

Anyway, that was an exciting way to end the night. I'm gonna go crash now and sleep in tomorrow.  Sleeeeep.  Hmmm.  That is one thing I am absolutely looking forward to in Boston, is sleeping lots and lots!

Batteries aren't very high up there in replacement cost (at least compared to things like mufflers and radiators). I had mine replaced last year and the total cost was less than $150, I think, and that was with installation at a repair shop. If you do it yourself (or have your brother help or whatever) all you have is the cost of the battery and several stores will discount the price a bit if you exchange in the old battery. Some stores like Advance Auto Parts will install it for free if you buy it there.

So it's not the cheapest thing to have to replace, but it's not nearly as terrible as other things I've had to do for my car. ;) Good luck!

It was a little of $120, but the car is still dead. I did have my hopes up for a bit, lol. I'm hoping now that it's something easily fixed that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Oh no, how frustrating! I hope you can find someone to help you with the car.

I grew up with Bill Cosby (1960s), and am glad he's still performing.

I can't wait to see Bill Cosby. My sister and I grew up loving his show and his comedy, so we're both really excited!
