Bond. James Bond.
Nov. 17th, 2012 05:40 pmSo, the poll spoke and I ended up going to see Skyfall today. I enjoyed it a lot! Spoilers under the cut for the movie.
There were a few places where it dragged, and I think they could have tightened it up a bit, but overall I enjoyed it. The bad guy actually had depth and a good back story. I felt sorry for him, as you could obviously see he had been driven pretty insane by what was done to him. I'm glad he died at the end, but still, I liked him.
Also, his scene with Bond, when he's tied to the chair? I laughed at his reaction when Bond was like, "Who says your my first?" Oh, Bond! Equal opportunity seducer, huh? Which I can actually see. He's a bit sociopathic, and a lot of time the women he seduces are just to get information or because he wants to get some. I can totally see him doing that with men, as well.
M was amazing. I loved her, and I'm sorry she died at the end. I was really rooting for her to pull through. I can kind of understand, though, as Judi Dench has lost most of her eyesight, and I think she's cutting back on the acting soon. Still, her interactions with Bond, the way she accepted things and worked with him, her iron will... I will miss her.
I think the best thing about the movie was how it brought old school thought into it. Yes, everything is high tech now, but sometimes old school is the best. And I think Q was figuring that out as the movie progressed, that he wasn't all he thought he was.
It was kind of sad, but kind of fun, too. I loved the car! And Bond's expression when it blew up, oh my! I would be pissed, too! It had an ejection seat!
So, yeah, a good movie overall, and I'm glad I went. This may be one to own when it comes out on blu-ray.
