Hair day!

So, the experiment with the braids did not turn out.  I don't think my hair was wet enough, or possibly it's because I didn't put styling cream.  But either way, when I took the braids out this morning, I looked like a poodle had landed on my head. 

So, experiment the next.  This is how I'm spending my Saturday night:



My friend Vanessa was very patient.  We didn't have enough curlers, so this is basically just a trial run to see if my hair will even hold the curl.   I don't think it was wet enough, and neither does she, since I basically just dunked my head under the faucet, but that's why it's an experiment!  And if all else fails, I figure I can just do two braids and call it good.  I'll still make a cute hobbit, lol.

So, anyone have any big plans for tonight or tomorrow?  Because, really, this is it for me. I just ordered a pizza and, although it will be humiliating to answer the door like this, I don't care.  I rented Hotel Transylvania and Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, so that's me in for the night!  Hope you all have a good rest of the weekend. 

Oh, and I'll post a picture of how the curls turn out, since I'm only leaving the curlers in for 4 hours tonight.

If this one doesn't work, here is a third alternative, one that I used all through college.

Draw your hair up on top of your head in a ponytail. Tear some strips of cotton rags (an old pillowcase or dishcloth will work) about an inch and a half wide, and about three or four inches long. Section the ponytail and roll each section over one of the rags and tie it firmly. Easy to sleep in, because the rags don't poke you like curlers do. You can do it with slightly damp hair or you can spray each section with hairspray before rolling it up. (Really wet hair doesn't work too well with this method because it never quite dries.)

Oh, I think you will love "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"! I did. We haven't seen "Hotel Transylvania" yet--but it's the next thing on our Netflix queue.

Along with dreamflower02's rag curlers, you could also paper towel or toilet paper rolls, or, if you have some clips, try just finger rolls. And if you can find some setting lotion it'll help your hair remember the curl. (I've got stick straight hair that refuses to hold a curl and it's one of the only things that worked for me) If you have a Sally Beauty Supply around I'd suggest getting LottaBody. But you'll be adorable any way. ^_^

I think I'm going to have to get some hair spray today, as I never use it and the curls were great, but I don't know how long they'll last. I'll look into that LottaBody, because my hair is usually stick straight, as can be seen by the few strands we didn't have enough curlers for, lol. Thanks!
