Star Trek Into Darkness
May. 16th, 2013 09:22 pmLast night, after work, I took a quick nap, which I really need to do more of. Sleeeeeep!!!
I laid down again between 9 and 1030, because I'm old like that, and then got up and went to the movie theater. I was a bit disappointed there wasn't more hype, as when I went to the Avengers midnight premier there were people dressed up and really excited. Maybe because yesterday was a work day and people had to work the next day, but it was fairly quiet and toned down.
But the theater itself was crowded, and everyone was pretty appreciative. There was a lot of laughter, some clapping, and just the sense of people really enjoying themselves and the experience. The movie itself was awesome, and I'm going to see it again with a friend tomorrow. No spoilers, except to say there were some things I really liked and others I wish they had changed. Overall, however, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see it again.
Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing, as always. I could listen to that man read the phone book and would find it riveting.
The one thing I do regret is that the reboot is only through movies. That spirit of adventure, of seeing these old friends made new again, it's great for a few hours, but then that's all there is. I want more! I want to see them explore the galaxy and get into weird adventures.
Oh, well. I guess that's what fanfic is for.
I only actually got about 3 hours sleep last night, and I had my first counseling session today, after work, which was more exhausting than I thought it would be. Sorry if this rambles, but I've been pretty zombified all day. Also, and this is really weird, I've been shaking all day, and my heart has been racing. It's almost like I've had too much caffiene, except I've only had the one cup of tea in the morning I always have. Weird. I guess I'm just not as young as I used to be and my body isn't used to lack of sleep.
Guess that means I need to go to more midnight premiers!!

Date: 2013-05-17 11:33 am (UTC)I would like to see it too, but then: here in good old Germany we don't have the privilege hearing the actors original voices... I'm biased. It's also performed only in 3D, which is a bit more expensive. *sigh*
I know that feeling you are speaking of. Lack of sleep is easier to deal with when you are 22 :)
Take a nap :) Sweet dreams of Benedict reading the phone book to you :) LOL Naa, kidding! The complete Sherlock Holmes - of course :) :) :)

Date: 2013-05-20 10:48 am (UTC)I know he has a voice to die for. I watched BBC Sherlock in the original version :) Captioned with Italien and French :) Nice!
Agreed: they could show just one performance in the original (subtitled) version... sighs... Well - there is still the internet :)
