Well, today was a very long day. It began at 5 in the morning, when I had to get up for a brigade run of 4 miles. Then a urinalysis. Yes, the day just kept getting better and better. I missed half of my lunch do to an annoying sgt, and then we were stuck working until 7 tonight. All in all, I ended up with a very bad sunburn on my face and neck, and a very strong urge to take a long bubble bath and then go to sleep. I guess it could be worse, though. My shoulders aren't sunburned, and I'm sure that I will get a few freckles from the burn on my nose. And tomorrow will hopefully make it worth it.
It seems that our higher ups have finally realized that we are getting deployed in 5 months, and that it may be a good time to start on convoy training. So tomorrow we get to go on a 100 mile convoy. I always enjoy driving down the highway in the military vehicles. Call me silly, but I enjoy seeing the looks on little kids faces when they see us pass, and remember myself at that age.
So, off to bed, and then up again early, but for a happier day, I hope. And hopefully, no one will break down this time around. Good night, all!

Ah, that explains why I couldn't get you yesterday! Poor Pip! But have great fun driving those company vehicles, and take care of yourself. (((Big hug)))))

I can't imagine getting up at 5 a.m. to run four miles. Enjoy the convoy!

Don't get disheartened if the convoy resembled a Goat Rodeo. They were all ate up overseas as well. Moving that many vehicles with that many moving parts built and calibrated by the lowest bidder and maintained by people whose jobs aren't maintaining vehicles tends to create a situation where breakdowns happen.

It's good to see that they are giving you training you will use. Hang in there!

This is pretty random I guess, but I just wanted to say you are wonderful for serving our country, and I respect and honor you for choosing to serve.

Why thank you so very much! You have no idea how wonderful it is to hear that. Not to sound selfish, but sometimes it is hard to remember what we are fighitng for, when you have to contend with some of the B.S. they like to throw at us. And then I get a letter like yours, or someone sees me in uniform and thanks me, and I remember.
It is to fight for those we love and care for, so they do not have to.
Thank you!
