Freedom!!!!!!!!!

Hello, all. Well, my leave started yesterday, and after a four hour flight, a night over in Seattle and then a four hour car drive, I am finally home. I haven't seen my family in almost a year, and I surprised the heck out of my mom today. She didn't know that I was coming home a few days early, so I was going to surprise her by sneaking into the back door and coming up behind her. However, she happened to be looking outside the kitchen window right as I tried to sneak past, lol. I will never forget her expression! Her mouth dropped open, she put a hand to her chest, and all she managed to get out was "Oh. My. God!"
I went to the front and gave her a big hug, and it was wonderful to see her again. The only bad news is that my dad is not coming up for the wedding, and he isn't giving an excuse. We're a little afraid that his health is degenerating, and he just doesn't want to worry my sister before her wedding. So, Ada, if you read this, let us know what's going on, all right? You're scaring us.
Anyway, I spent a wonderful time with my brother and sister and mom, shopping for wedding stuff and then eating a nice family dinner. I met my brother's girlfriend, and she seems nice, but of course I have to check her out and make sure she's good for my baby brother. After dinner we all watched a few movies, and now sister and brother are sleeping.
I'm staying at my brother's house, and he just got a new puppy today, Jack Danial, and he is the cutest little lab I have ever seen, and at only 3 months, soooo well behaved. He's only peed in the house twice, but he's learning, and he loves to snuggle up on my lap and go to sleep. He is the sweetest tempered dog I have ever seen.
Anyway, if I don't respond to your entries for a few days, or if you don't hear from me, my brother lives in the middle of nowhere and he can't get cable or anything. His internet connection is jurry-rigged up the ying-yang, and somewhat touchy.

I'm so glad you're having some time away from the Army! You deserve some rest, family, love, decent sleep, and no strenuous, injury-causing activities! Enjoy every moment of it, and keep in touch when you can.

Leave is a wonderful thing. I'm taking some before I head out west. In case you were wondering, I should be at Huachuca in the middle of November.
