I am very drunk right now, so I decided a drunk Pippin story was in order. Just a ficlet, and not beta-ed. Enjoy.
"Come on, Pippin, just a bit farther," Frodo murmured, trying to surpress the grin that threatened to split his face.
Pippin, propped unceremoniously between Merry and Frodo, staggered along beside them, singing some silly Gondorian song at the top of his lungs, and earning amused, delighted smiles from those they passed. Luckily, they were not far from their house.
"Is everything all right, Master hobbits?" a familiar voice asked, and Frodo looked up with a large smile at Legoas and Gimli, the pair of them grinning at the inebriated hobbit.
"Leggy!" Pippin cried, trying to unwrap his arms from around his cousins' shoulders to hug the elf.
"He's had a bit too much tonight," Merry whispered with a grin, smiling down at his cousin as he hiccupped. He gave up on trying to break away from his cousins, and instead started to sing again.
"So I see," Legolas laughed, Gimli chortling behind him. "Let us put him to bed."
"I'll make him something so his head does not pain him in the morning," Gimli added, smiling as Pippin hiccuped again mid-song.
"Onward, the Fellowship!" Pippin cried, and managed a few more stumbling steps before he passed out.
Merry and Frodo smiled indulgently as they allowed Legolas to pick up the young Knight and carry him the rest of the way.
Knowing that there was no safer place for their baby cousin than in the embrace of his friends.

Date: 2004-08-29 01:48 pm (UTC)But I've always, ever since, been gratefull for the attitude most soldiers hold to: sometimes, you just need a drink, and we've all been there, done that. I'm just amazed I was able to type something coherant, as my fingers were numb when I wrote it, lol!
