I just started watching Renaissance Man and can't help squeeing over the fact that it was filmed at Fort Jackson, where I went to Basic Training. I keep seeing things and places that I remember, and can't help yelling, "I've been there! I've done that!" And then, because I've been so brainwashed, the inevitable outburst of, "They can't do that! The Drill Sargents would never let that happen!" follows.
Is it rather sad to anyone else that my idea of a fun Friday night is to pop some popcorn, have a soda, and watch a movie?

In The Army Now with Pauly Shore has the same effect on me. It was filmed at C 1/22 FA at Fort Sill, and I went through B Co.

And it's not brainwashing... it's just knowing what's up... heh...

I think anyone in the service is forever doomed to watch military movies with a running commentary going through their mind of "that's wrong," "I wish we could do that," "why didn't my drill sgt do that for me?" and "why are they wearing their cap inside! They can't wear their cap inside!"

Heh... yeah, I also saw We Were Soldiers when I was going through Jump School and seeing the jump towers was awesome, since we ran by them every day...
