A Father's Love

He is so still, my son. The fire that flowed in his viens is gone, seeped out to baptise these stones that he lays so still upon. What have I done? How could I have allowed this light, this shining spirit, to extinguish itself? I must make things right.

The oil is sweet and cloying, and clings to our skin. Soon, my son, soon, we shall both be beyond Evil's hand. Be at rest, Faramir. It is a father's duty to ensure his children's saftey. And we shall depart in a fire so brilliant, no shadows shall touch us again.

Ooooh! Make me feel sympathy for Denethor! That's a tall order.

I love it. Thank you!

Thank you! For some reason, this little drabble has been playing around in my head. Usually I can't stand Denethor, but I guess he wanted his side told. Sigh.

Oh, wow. A very powerful snippet. It's always amazing to see what can be done in 100 words. I am *not* a Denethor lover, but this captures his thoughts so well. Congrats on some wonderful writing.

Also...and I'm not saying this to criticize or anything...I *think* in the last line you want it to say, '...no shadow shall TOUCH us...' but instead it says 'tough'. It could be I who's misunderstanding, but just in case it is a typo I thought I'd mention it. If I'm mistaken, I apologize.
