So,I tried to take my cats for a walk today. Yes, yes, yes, I know what you are thinking. They are cats, not dogs. But still... You would have thought I was trying to kill them the way they behaved. Rodney sat down on the sidewalk and started yowling, and Colonel laid down and refused to budge. I ended up carrying them back to the house. Sheesh.
They don't mind the harness, or the leash. They just don't seem to like the outdoors very much. I think I will try again tomorrow, and this time use their favorite toy, a bunch of feathers on a string, to goad them into moving. Hopefully they'll equate walking with fun time. Sigh.

Snicker. Yeah. Rodney is orange, curious, big boned, and curious about everything. Colonel is black, lean, and pretty laid back. He is also the more dominant, lol! The names fit so perfectly, it is scary!

I hope so. They need more exercise, and it will force me to get out and do stuff. Sigh. Now if I can just convince them of that!\
HUGS

When I was young one of the girls in the neighbourhood used to walk her rabbit LOL, so I'm sure you'll manage just fine with cats!

I hope so, lol! If nothing else it will provide the neighbors with entertainment.

I tried to take my cat Brookes on a walk before...she somehow managed to slip out of her leash and collar and I ended up chasing her halfway down the street. :) Now if I even come near her with either a collar or a leash she hisses at it. Cats are strange! :)

I so agree! Rodney spent the first month living here trying to get out the door! He doesn't mind the harness at all, but when I brought him outside, he acted as though I was the worse person ever!

Take them out and play in the yard, or on the porch a few times before you try to go farther. Until they've gotten comfortable with a patch of "home" territory, they won't want to wander.

Oh, that is such an excellent idea! Thank you!

My sister and her boyfriend stopped by a few nights ago with their dogs on leashes...and sitting on the walkway was her cat, who followed them all the way. It was adorable. So some cats do take walks, just continue on and I'm sure yours will.

I hope so. I know my mom used to take our cats for walks, and they don't mind the harness and leash. I think they just don't like going outside when its cold, lol!
