I found a new author and have been reading everything I could get my hands on.  Lucky for me he has his stuff on Kindle, so I can download it at midnight if I want!

I've been reading Josh Lanyon's Adrien English mysteries lately, and I'm only on book three but already mourning the fact that there are only 5 in the series.

Also, I finished Jordan Castillo Price's latest book, GhostTV, and was reminded how much I love her series.

I'm not usually one for mysteries, but both of these authors have such interesting characters that I find myself sucked in despite myself!

Also, got Rob Thurman's new book, which I am manfully putting off reading until Saturday, when I will have a whole day to devote to the reading!

Hmm.  Maybe it's no wonder I haven't written anything this past week, as I've been sucked into the world of books again!  I'm sorry, everyone I owe writing to!  I will really, really try better!  There just aren't enough damn hours in the day!

I really need a geek icon.

Sigh

Really don't wish to be at work today.  My mouth doesn't want to talk, my stomach is hurting, and I just... hate Mondays, lol, even when they're on Sunday.

Saw A-team with brother and his fiance last night.  It was just as good the second time, lol.  Still cheesy and silly and full of the crack that made it such a fun series.  Could have done without the forced romance, though.  That had me rolling my eyes and just wishing for those parts to be done with already.  I'm an incurable romantic, but it seems that most movies are just sex, sex, sex, and the women usually have me wanting to bash my head in.  I'm sorry, but you don't need to be a bitch to be strong and powerful.  If you switched genders, half the time what is supposed to come off as perky and smart is just downright vicious and sexist.  It drives me nuts.

OK, mini rant over, sorry.

Mom is doing some landscaping, and it has become a family affair to move rocks around and help plant flowers.  Now the weather is mostly cooperating we're trying to get it all done before it begins to get hot.

I'm working on a Sherlock Holmes story now.  It feels so good to be writing again, even if I still doubt the quality of it.  I'm trying to write at least 3 or 4 pages a day, and keep reminding myself that I can go back and edit and add and change things.  So far, I'm pretty happy with the results, and hope I can do the idea justice.

Not really much else going on.  I got my movie and book, and loved Without a Clue.  It was cracky and silly and fun, and just a good laugh.

What are you all planning for the rest of your weekend?

I have 2 hours to go, and things are going very slow.  What's going on with all of you?  Anything exciting happening?

I bought Without a Clue and a book on the Victorian era in England.  Yes, yes I am obsessed.  But anyway, I'm kind of ticked because UPS didn't leave them.  I tracked the package and it said that a signature was required.  When did UPS start requiring a signature for items under 100$?  Grr.  Now I have to wait until tomorrow to try and contact them, and because I'm at work from 7-12, I really hope I don't miss them a second time. Stupid UPS.  Don't they understand I want my items?  Sheesh.  I'm debating leaving a note on my door: "Dear UPS guy/gal.  Please, please, please leave my package.  Really, I promise not to tell.  There may be a five dollar bill under the welcome mat."

Can you tell I'm going slightly stir crazy?

Here, have a drabble!

"I am never, ever doing that again."
"That's what you said last time."
"I mean it this time!"
"You said that, as well."
"Merry, you are most unsympathetic friend."
"I would probably be much more so if you hadn't eaten the entire pie."
"But it was Sam's special strawberry!"
"I know!  And you didn't even save me a bite."
A long silence followed this pronouncement, followed by a deep, rumbling belch.
"It was quite good."
Merry felt quite justified beating his cousin soundly about the head with his pillow.

My weekend has been deliciously boring.  I bought Rob Thurman's new book, Chimera, yesterday, and am just over halfway through. I love that new book feeling!

I have to admit that I indulged and purchased a computer game today.  I can count on one hand the times I've purchased a computer game, but it was Sherlock Holmes, and there were 5 games included.  I can only resist so much, lol!

Now I'm at work, doing an overtime shift.  I'm supposed to work from 5-10, but I'm not feeling good so think I may leave a bit early.  I'll still get some extra money, and the rush seems to be over for the night, so the extra help won't be as necessary as when I got in.

Still, I'm having a wonderful weekend, and plan on sleeping in again tomorrow, and maybe even taking a nap!

Yeah, my life is boring.  I'm OK with that.  :)

I hope everyone had a good Friday.  Does anyone have any exciting weekend plans?  I figure if I get really ambitious I may go see a movie!

Question

I just started reading Eragon since I've heard so much about it and the movie looked really good. But I'm only three pages in and I have a question: does the writing get better? Because it feels like I'm reading something written in high school. I don't want to be mean, and I'm sure the plot is really good - but so far the writing is so sub - par that I don't know if I can finish the chapter let alone the book. So, please, does the writing get better?
