More fannishness
Jan. 12th, 2013 02:34 pmI'm hoping I can be a bit more fannish this year. I'm going to try and whine less and be more enthusiastic about different things. Movies, books, fanfics, writings... that sort of thing.
I decided to give the new Total Recall a try, since I liked the first one and thought, why not? I'm only about 10 minutes in, but I have to say I'm really not too impressed.
It seems a lot of the movies they're remaking these days were so popular because they had interesting plotlines, a good bit of action, and were fun. I'm not saying the original Total Recall was a work of art, but it seemed to have a more diverse cast and focused more on the plot rather than the current actress' butt and boobs.
I'm hoping it will improve, but I'm not too sure. I kind of wish a lot of the movies being made were more original, and not regurgitated knock-offs that don't seem to bring much to the movie except the same name. It seems the animated movies are where the true creativity is. Wreck It Ralph was a great movie, as was The Rise of the Guardians. I really liked the Hobbit, have seen it three times already, and I loved it. Those are the kinds of movies I wish there were more of.
Anyone else kind of tired of seeing movies remade? What kind of movie would you want to see?
