Hello, everyone! Yay, I have just posted my first story on Stories of Arda. Squee, I can't believe how technical I am becoming, first lj cuts and now Stories of Arda! Lol.
Anyway, I am going to try and post the rest of my stories over there as well, so if you want to take a look, let me know how it looks.
Hugs!

Well, I don't know.

Don't listen to them, they obviously don't know what they are talking about. Are you on ff.net? I don't think I've read many of your stories, only what you posted on your lj. I'll read them and then tell you how brilliant you are, and we can both laugh at their idiocy for not knowing a good thing when they see it.

My ff.net name is Camellia Gamgee-Took.

Off to have tea now - talk to you later! :)

I've given up on LOTR ff.NET. I'm on Stories or Arda solid. I only go to FF for Farscape and stuff like that now.

Don't feel silly.

It's called "Far Horizon" in some countries, might be in yours if it airs.

It's about an astronaut who gets transported into a parallel universe and makes friends with some alien live forms on a 'living' ship. I think the most memorable character is Rygel, he's this sort of funny puppety muppet thing sitting in a floating throne. Ringing any bells?

If you ever get a chance to watch it, give it a go. It's got a bit of everything, action, adventure, humour (lots of humour...sometimes wierd) and it is just floating in drama. A good solid fun ride.

*shakes head to make the bells ring*

Not heard of it. Sounds like something slightly similar to Star Trek or Star Wars to me, but then my fiction (fan or original) interest is solely focused on hobbits, hobbits and hobbits, even if I`ve seen both Star Trek episodes and Star Wars.

It is a bit like Star Trek, but only as far as it's set in space. A lot of 'references' are made to the show though.

Hobbits are good : - )

ff.n serves a useful function. It gives newbies a place where they can test the waters anonymously. And if all the good stuff disappears from it, then they'll never have a chance to read and learn better, now will they?

Sure it's an unfiltered forum, but that's to the good. You face neither criticism of your abilities, or the travails of untender prejudices by the self-proclaimed authority of an "editor/webmaster" of a more selective site. You might have to put up with a few trolls, but it's easier to ignore anonymous malice. And if you get some good reviews, it helps you take the next step when you find a really excellent website, which has a selection policy that you have to work a little harder to live up to.

And besides, even a wretched Marysue with invented spelling can be fun when your tempereature's away up. Yay Nyquil!

I fully agree with the purpose of FF.net, but I think it has become worse lately. And I´m not sure I would have been "good enough" for Stories of Arda, without my wonderful beta! I´ve read fics for over a year, and even if I did not know what to select at the beginning, I think there is more "crap" there now than a year ago. More people are writing (especially movieverse fics) now, of course with the popularity for the films.

They could use some more ways to select what to read, though. More categories e.x.

Congratulations! I'm terrified of computers myself. Constant use notwithstanding.
